I've been thinking about heaven. Ya know everyone dreams of heaven, but with a little help from my friends (Jesus being my BFF), I have come to realize that we have cut ourselves WAY short in this idea of heaven. It is a place for the humble, the great, those who seek the face of the Lord. I am not going to pretend I know much about it, but I have desired to learn and search for revelation because it is my home.
He replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Matthew 13:11 NIV
I believe God is eager to give us knowledge of His Kingdom. Heaven is His Kingdom! I was thinking on that and just so happen to be reading 1 Chronicles when David was king over Israel and he set up the tabernacle, maintaining regular worship, and he conquered many enemies. His success as king was so great because the Lord was His intimate partner. Then he wanted to build the Lord a Temple, but it was for Solomon, his son to accomplish.
Now David said, "Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it." So David made abundant preparations before his death.
1 Chronicles 22:5 NKJ
The rest of the chapters in 1 Chronicles are details about how David divides the people of his kingdom to have specific duties to govern different areas of the kingdom in preparation for the building and operating of the Temple of the Lord. There were many jobs that needed to be done. The Levites were the official tribe chosen "to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at evening" (1Chron23:30). They did many things in service of the House of the Lord such as being priests, musicians, officers, judges, gatekeepers, treasurers, counselors, and other heads "for every matter pertaining to God and the affairs of the king" (1Chron26:32).
This speaks to me that the Kingdom of Heaven could be likened to this organized government that is set up for the worship of God, and to honor and follow King Jesus' every wise instruction. He is the righteous judge and His Kingdom will last forever. This is way different from what I grew up thinking about heaven being everyone before the throne of God eyes fixed on Him, just singing straight to Him forever. Now that would be glorious, and I know when we finally see Him we will desire to give Him such unending praise, but God is exciting and that could be possibly boring. I think we will be singing, and praising while we work. Heaven is a Kingdom! It will have all the necessities of government in a 'mind-blowingly' perfect and fascinating new way, the Way of the Lord! Wow! it is so exciting to think of the great details Jesus is planning, as king David had to plan.
In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3 NIV
Oh God! there is so much to know about You and the Kingdom of heaven! Jesus thank You for bringing us into the family of God. As young, inexperienced sons and daughters of God, we eagerly await for Your return, and to rule with You Jesus, to be with You. Give us more of Your Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation to excite our hearts to the truths of hidden treasure You have prepared and given to us. Open our eyes to see more of Your perfect beauty! In Jesus name, Amen
[The Seventh Trumpet] The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever." Revelation 11:15 NIV
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:33-36
